Hong Kong Professional Facilitator’s Network BETTER MEETINGS Based on: Programme Date: RESCHEDULED Wednesday, 24 September 2008 There is no fee for this session. How do you hold BETTER MEETINGS? In this session, Sandra Janoff reminds us why meetings are so important. We are often cynical about the effectiveness of meetings, especially in large organizations. However meetings are where we could be doing our most important work – resolving issues, making decisions and achieving genuine understanding. Sandra has co-written a book with Marvin Weisbord called Don’t Just Do Something, Stand There describing 10 principles for successful meetings. They show exactly how to establish a meeting structure that will give everyone a sense of common vision and purpose, make productive use of dissension, and encourage people to take responsibility rather than passively waiting to be told what to do. This programme will review these principles and how they can be applied to create BETTER MEETINGS. Sandra Janoff, Phd is a psychologist and international consultant who works with corporate, public and non-profit organization. She is a co-executive director of the International Future Search Network. She will be leading a workshop in Hong Kong before going to the Asian Organizational Development conference in Bangkok. The Hong Kong Professional Facilitators Forum is established for those interested in the art and practice facilitation. We welcome your participation and sharing. Please feel free to share this invitation to interested colleagues.
